The Cutting Edge is an educational programme designed to teach children about the reality of carrying weapons & living violent lives. Created by internationally renowned personal protection expert Mark Davies, it is a hard hitting presentation that shows young people that there are consequences to their every action, & that that the consequences of violent crime can be terrible & reach far further than they can see.
Our aim is to show young people that they need to make the right choices. They have it in their power to make a positive choice in the direction their lives take, regardless of what cards society has dealt them. We will show them the terrible reality of using a weapon against another human being, that it isn't clean & quick like in the movies or video games. We will show them that lashing out in panic or anger with a weapon will affect everyone in their life for the rest of their life, & we'll show them the effects of their actions on the people on the 'other side' of their weapon.
There is no 'magic bullet' or quick fix to the problem of armed violence amongst our young people. If we are realistic we have to realise that it will take a long term strategy of violence reduction throughout our whole society to really make a major difference. However, if through education methods we can stop some of our young people from carrying & using weapons out of fear & anger then we may well save many young lives; & surely that is worth the effort.
Mark Davies is always more than happy to provide interviews about his programme, experiences or views on knife crime & violent crime in general.
